If you want to trim your lace I recommend not to cut less than 1/4 -1/2 inch or more from the hair line of the wig. This will give you space for fraying over time as it happens you can trim accordingly.

Use Spirit Gum or toupee tape for applying lace to head. If you choose another product it may or may not be able to be removed from the lace and/or the hair. If you have any questions and not sure if you can please email me and ask I would prefer you ask before rather than after.

I recommend that you use a canvas head to style and store the wig once it is styled. You can use several items to put the lace down on the head and keep it down. Either I would use masking tape, bias tape ¼ inch is fine, or a ribbon on the ends of the lace and then stick straight pins(again make sure that the pin is of small gauge so it doesn’t rip the lace the colored ball tip pins used for sewing are perfect) through the tape and lace about a ½ inch apart starting from the middle of the lace and working your way down smoothing out the lace.

APPLYING THE LACE USING SPIRIT GUM

1. Put wig on your head and pin in the wig as you would normally would but not using pins in the front were the lace lays. You can use small hair pins through the lace but be careful of the size and thickness of your hair pin if it is to big It could tear the lace.

2. Lift the lace and brush on spirit gum to where the lace lays then return the lace to the face. If you start on right or left side then apply from right to left and keep smoothing the lace down so there are no lifting in the lace. Same if you start in the middle and work down towards ears

3. I recommend using a latex sponge to pat over lace once you have applied spirit gum to help remove excess and with the drying process to make sure the lace is down smooth to your skin.

1. gently lift lace from face it depends on amount of spirit gum you applied and how tacky it really is.

2. If you cannot lift lace off of skin you can use some 99% alcohol and a q-tip to loosen the spirit gum. The alcohol is used to break down the spirit gum and loosen the lace from the face.

CLEANING THE LACE SYNTHETIC HAIR

1. use a paper towel under the lace and take 99% alcohol(you can get at most drug stores)
|

2. using a q-tip or soft toothbrush apply alcohol to lace where spirit gum is located. Rub the area but if using a brush do not use brush stroking motions on the lace more like shake the brush in a back and forth motion do not to move the bristle.

3. Continue until all sight of spirit gum is gone.
|

4. once the spirit gum is removed then you can either keep the wig in the style it is in or you can wash the wig like you would wash a wig regularly (I like to use Ship Shape you can find at Sally’s because it removes all hairspray and makeup products very well.) then condition the wig I like to used a fabric softener in water and let it soak.
